What is Limewash?
This natural paint dates back for centuries… originally used by ancient Romans, limewash is made from crushed up, diluted limestone and natural pigments.
When applied to walls, limewash creates a beautifully imperfect plaster looking texture – adding interest and dimension to any space.
Here are 5 Reasons why you should definitely use limewash for your next project:
Environmentally Friendly
Limewash is more than just a pretty face… this product has amazing sustainable qualities! Walls adorned with limewash paint are breathable, mould and mildew resistance... it even takes carbon dioxide out of the air! With no harmful VOC’s or corrosive solvents, limewash is WAY more environmentally friendly than any other paint on the market.

2. Earth Tones, Muted Colours
If you live for muted tones and neutral palettes – limewash paint is for you! This natural paint is anything but vibrant… keeping with it’s wabi-sabi aesthetic, colour options usually consist of earthy beige/brown tones. Classic white limewash is always a favourite of mine though…

3. Italian Villa Aesthetic
Okay, who doesn’t want to live in an Italian Villa? I know I do…. Why not create the look of roman royalty in your own home? The natural patina you see all over Italy that makes it incomparable to anything else, is exactly the one of a kind look you’ll get with limewash.

4. Perfectly Imperfect
Perfection is so overrated… I know I cringe at the sight of cold overly perfect homes. Imperfections are what give interiors interest and character…. It’s the same reason old homes and vintage objects have that sought after, unmatchable aesthetic.

5. Makes a Statement
Okay, if you’re a bit intimidated by the thought of painting your entire home in limewash, make it a statement! Choose a small powder room, a fireplace, a statement wall or cozy nook and go nuts!
